NEXA Careers: Requirements, Licensing & What to Expect Joining

NEXA targets experienced, producing loan officers and branch leaders. In broad terms, you must be properly licensed (or willing to become licensed) in the states where you originate, pass background/credit requirements per SAFE Act and state rules, and you are generally expected to bring self-generated business. NEXA is not positioned for brand-new or non-producing originators. Confirm current, specific requirements with NEXA for your situation.

You must hold and maintain the required state Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license(s) through NMLS, complete required pre-licensing education and the SAFE test, pass a background check, and satisfy continuing-education requirements. If moving from another company, your NMLS registration transfers per standard NMLS procedures. See Licensing & Disclosures.

NEXA is built for experienced producers. Because the model centers on self-generated business with no base salary, prior origination experience and an established borrower/referral base are effectively prerequisites for a successful transition. New or newly licensed originators without an existing production history are generally not the focus.

Yes. NEXA operates a low-overhead, remote-friendly model. Loan officers can run their business from home with NEXA providing the licensing umbrella, technology, processing support, and lender access. There is no requirement to work from a physical office.

Independent loan officers in the broker channel typically operate as 1099 independent contractors, which affects how they're paid and taxed. Depending on the specific arrangement, some roles may have different employment status. Confirm your exact W-2 vs. 1099 status with NEXA, as it determines tax treatment, benefits, and self-employment responsibilities.

No. NEXA does not provide leads as a standard entitlement. It expects loan officers to self-generate their business. NEXA does offer marketing infrastructure and resources to help producers build a referral pipeline, but you should not join expecting company-provided leads.

NEXA provides onboarding covering licensing, technology setup, and processing workflow, plus access to training resources (such as NEXA University) and processing/compliance support. Onboarding is designed to get an experienced producer live efficiently rather than to teach origination from scratch.
